Born and educated in the North West of England Jones gained two business degrees from Reutlingen Fachhocschule and Middlesex Business School.

After spells at BDH/TBWA, Lowe and J. Walter Thompson he was the youngest board director of AMV BBDO in London and in 1998 aged 32 moved to Sydney to run Euro RSCG Australia where he launched Euro RSCG's digital agency.

He returned to the UK in 2002 to run Euro RSCG’s top 20  Global Brands and the  Reckitt Benckiser account; in 2004 was named CEO of Euro RSCG New York and in 2005 Global CEO of Euro RSCG Worldwide.

He injected new energy to the agency which resulted in an unprecedented creative renaissance and new business dynamic thanks to wins such as Reckitt Benckiser, Charles Schwab, Heineken, ExxonMobil, NYSE, Kraft, Unilever, Jaguar, Glaxosmithkline, Novartis and Schering-Plough.
A year later, in 2006,  the network was named Global Network of the Year by both Advertising Age in New York and Campaign magazine in London.In January 2009 he became CEO of Havas Worldwide.

From 2007 -2010 Jones led a Euros RSCG team advising David Cameron. Euro RSCG's creative work helped define the battle lines with Gordon Brown on the need for deficit reduction.  Jones also created the Tck Tck Tck campaign for Kofi Annan for the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit (over 17 million supporters - by far the biggest climate action campaign of that year) and co-founded One Young World, a global forum for young future leaders, which had its inaugural summit in London February 2010.  The second summit will take place in Zurich in September.

Jones is 44. Married with 4 young children. He has lived and worked in the UK, Germany, France, Australia and the USA.
